    • Work Incentive Transport Subsidy Scheme

    News Content

    • The labor and Welfare Bureau announced yesterday anyone who was employed and works at least 72 hours a month and passed a means test would be eligible for the work incentive transport subsidy scheme. It will be granted regardless of where an applicant lives or works.
    • A three-person family has a monthly income HK12000 and family asset not more than HK90000, each family member will be able to get a HK 600 monthly transport allowance. The bureau estimates 330,000 people will be eligible, costing the government HK3.9 billion for the first three years. 

    Questions

    • The imposed income limit is really strict, failing to provide support to low-income people.
    • The monthly working hour limit also turn a blind eye to those people, most of them are women, work under 18 hours per week
