    • Although the government announced it would present a motion to defer the controversial order to extend the Tseung Kwan O landfill into Clear Water Bay Country Park, the legislators still insist to table a motion on Wednesday to repeal the Chief Executive’s order.
    • The Secretary for the environment said the delay would allow officials, legislators and residents more time to assess the effectiveness of the measures. However, the legislators fear that by agreeing to the delay, they may be giving up their power to scrap the order.
    • Therefore the ball is now in LegCo president Tsang Yuk-sing’s court. He must decide whether to let the motion proceed.

    • The Department of Justice warned the lawmakers that they have no power to repeal the order. But the legal adviser to the legislature disputed this claim.
