    • Jailed Nobel Peace Prize winner Liu Xiaobo delicates prize to martyrs

    • A tearful Liu told his wife Liu Xia, who saw him yesterday morning in a brief visit to a prison in Jinzhou, Liaoning province that the (Nobel) Peace Award is first and foremost for the Tiananmen martyrs.
    • Liu Xia also said her husband felt heavy at heart and broke down in tears on hearing the news.
    • Zhang Xianling, one of the so-called Tiananmen mothers said Liu’s words were great encouragement to those who contributed to China’s democratic movement.
    • Liu Xia has however been under house arrest since 8 Oct, and has no idea when she will be free.
    • The Norwegian Nobel Committee awarded the Peace Prize to Liu Xiaobo last Friday, praising him for his long and non-violent struggle for fundamental human rights in China.
    • A woman was arrested for common assault after allegedly spraying a security guard with champagne outside the central government liaison office where she and other activists celebrating Liu Xiaobo’s winning of the Nobel Peace Prize. She was granted HK500 bail and told to report to the police next month.


    • Liu Xiaobo and Liu Xia should be released immediately.
    • The Hong Kong woman’s arrest outside the liaison office is totally absurd, undermining the freedom of expression in Hong Kong.
